A fudgy, citrus-infused chocolate dessert that’s rich, aromatic, and perfect for any occasion. One bowl, big flavor, and minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup dark chocolate, chopped

  • ½ cup unsalted butter

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • Zest of 1 orange

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice

  • Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips, 1 tbsp candied orange peel

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch pan.

  • Melt chocolate and butter together until smooth.

  • Stir in sugar and orange zest.

  • Beat in eggs and vanilla.

  • Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and add orange juice. Mix until just combined.

  • Fold in optional add-ins.

  • Pour into pan and bake 22–26 minutes, until edges are set and center slightly soft.

  • Cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For stronger orange flavor, add orange extract or double the zest. Refrigerate before slicing for cleaner cuts. Freezes well.
