On a large platter, layer tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil in alternating rows to form a tree shape.
Start wide at the bottom and taper upward.
Add a cheese star or tomato at the top for decoration.
Place breadsticks or cucumber sticks at the bottom for the trunk.
Drizzle lightly with olive oil and balsamic glaze just before serving.
Season with sea salt and pepper to taste.
Make ahead and chill up to 4 hours (dress right before serving).
Use multi-colored tomatoes for extra festive color.
