  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup yogurt or buttermilk

  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/3 cup hot coffee or hot water

  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.

  • Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  • In a separate bowl, beat eggs, sugars, yogurt, oil, and vanilla until smooth.

  • Add hot coffee or water and whisk until blended.

  • Gradually stir in dry ingredients until just combined.

  • Fold in chocolate chips.

  • Divide batter among liners and bake 18–22 minutes.

  • Cool and frost or serve as-is.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix for tender texture.

  • Add espresso powder to deepen chocolate flavor.
