1¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup black cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup buttermilk
1 tsp white vinegar
Black gel food coloring (optional)
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a muffin tin with liners.
Whisk flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, mix sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla.
Stir in buttermilk, vinegar, and food coloring if using.
Combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth.
Fill liners ¾ full and bake 18–22 minutes.
Cool completely and frost as desired.
Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze unfrosted. Add berries, glitter, or themed toppers for special occasions.
