A festive cookie packed with dried fruits, nuts, and warm spices — chewy, flavorful, and perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg

  • 1 ½ cups mixed dried or candied fruit, chopped

  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  • Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

  • Beat in eggs and vanilla.

  • Mix dry ingredients separately, then add to the wet mixture.

  • Fold in floured fruit and nuts.

  • Chill dough for 30–60 minutes.

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Scoop onto baking sheet and bake 10–12 minutes.

  • Cool on sheet, then transfer to wire rack.

Notes

Use a flour-dusted fruit mix to prevent sinking. Add rum or orange zest for flavor twists. Store at room temperature or freeze.
