A creamy slow cooker chicken korma made with yogurt, coconut milk, and warm spices, tender and rich, perfect with rice or naan.

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds chicken
1 tablespoon oil
1 onion
4 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon ginger
1 cup yogurt
1 can coconut milk
2 tablespoons ground almonds
1 tablespoon curry powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon coriander
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Sauté onion, garlic, and ginger.
  • Add spices and tomato paste.
  • Transfer to slow cooker with chicken.
  • Mix yogurt, coconut milk, and almonds, then add.
  • Cook on low for 5–6 hours or high for 3–4 hours.
  • Stir in lemon juice before serving.
  • Serve with rice or naan.

Notes

Use full-fat coconut milk for a richer sauce. Add vegetables near the end if desired.
